I was getting the same problem but the australian dictionary we are using is more than 1Mb big (release 6.0.2CF1). After a few checks with the user, there were other programs not working. I found out that the temp folder in the local settings of the user was used by 32 thousand tmp files. Once I deleted them the "Error during main dictionary spell initialization" disappared.
